After all of these years and all of these phony “tort reform” measures, all across this country, designed to assist corporations and punish consumers, it is nice to see any legislative body pass a law that protects consumers who were harmed rather than reward the corporations that harmed them. Hopefully, this becomes a national trend and, hopefully, Republicans get on board and stop protecting wrongfully earned corporate profits and the corporations who intentionally or unintentionally hurt citizens.
Legislators should protect the citizens who elect them, not the corporations who wrong those citizens. If you are a citizen of Oregon and live in the district where support for this legislation was provided, write your state senator and/or representative and thank him/her for supporting this important legislation. If you live in the districts of those who opposed it, write anyway, and tell Republicans (and Democratic Senator Betsy Johnson) to start protecting your rights or face losing their seat in the next election. Congratulations to the Oregon House and Senate”.
