Thousands of people across the country, including celebrities like Justin Bieber, have rallied together to help support three young children orphaned after a fatal auto accident over the Fourth of July weekend.

The children, Peter 9, Aaron 8, and Willa 6, were returning home from vacationing in Colorado with their parents.  The accident occurred around midnight on a two-lane highway with no highway lighting when a distracted driver veered into oncoming traffic slamming into their minivan head-on.  Police believe the distracted driver was looking for a DVD at the time of the accident.  Killed were both parents of the children and the wife of the distracted driver. Peter and Aaron suffered spinal cord injuries and are now paralyzed below the waist; they may never walk again. Willa suffered broken bones.  The distracted driver suffered serious injuries; his one-year-old daughter escaped injuries.

Everyone in both vehicles was wearing a seatbelt, unfortunately it just wasn’t enough.  Victims will have a long road to recovery in many ways.  The pain of losing one’s parents never fades; the two boys may be paralyzed for life.  A distracted driver must live with the consequences of his momentary inattentiveness.  Multiple tragedies arose out of one incident.

The children are getting an outpouring of love and support as family members, friends, the community, celebrities, even strangers, near and far, come to their aid.  This is only the beginning of a long road to recovery physically, emotionally, and financially.  A campaign called “Show Your Hearts” allows those interested to donate online or with a text message. All donations go to the Joshua and Robin Berry Children’s Trust.  Lawsuit Financial just contributed online; it’s easy!  To make a contribution to help fund the children’s ongoing needs, including medical rehabilitation, physical therapy, psychological support and education, click here.
