Milford, Michigan police and fire personnel responded to a 911 call that a late model pick-up truck had crashed into a tree and was fully engulfed in flames. Police reported that after leaving the roadway the truck struck the tree head-on, before the pick-up caught fire. The single occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver was traveling too fast for the road conditions. However, an investigation is ongoing to determine if alcohol or other factors contributed to the crash.

Nearly one-third of all car accidents can be attributed to speeding, a deliberate and calculated behavior where the driver knows the risk but ignores the danger. The faster you drive, the slower your reaction time will be if you need to avoid a road hazard or otherwise prevent an auto accident.
